Getting involved is easy
Prepare a demonstration on a Heroes Happen {2008} Launch technology and present it to a community group – such as user group, organisation or other community meeting. You can submit as many demos as you like.

Entry Criteria:

  • Showcase a Launch technology – Windows Server 2008, SQL Server 2008 and/or Visual Studio 2008
  • Maximum duration: 10 minutes
  • Video the demonstration, either using a recorder (video camera or webcam) or through screen capture technologies, such as DemoMate™ or Camtasia™
  • Post the video online at Silverlight.live.com
  • Complete the registration form, available here
  • Meet the terms and conditions of entry

There are 2 ways in which a demo entry can proceed to the State Finals:

1) Community Groups with 3 or more demonstrations from at least 2 different entrants:
By the 31st July, community leaders can nominate one Demo to progress to the State Finals. Details of this nomination including entrants full name, email, community group presented to and demo URL must be sent to ozhero08@microsoft.com

A judging guidelines template will be available on request by emailing ozhero08@microsoft.com

2) Community Groups with less than 3 demonstrations from at least 2 different entrants:
Microsoft will judge all entries including entrants whose groups meet the first criteria, and award up to 30 Wildcard places. Entrants will be notified by email if they are successful at this stage of the competition.

What is a community group?

A Community Group may include a technology user group, company internal communities of practice, MCT run sessions, student computer clubs and any other group of like minded geeks who share a passion for technology.

Community and wildcard winners will then be required to present their demo to a live audience at the State Finals.
